About this Course:

This asynchronous course is designed for aspiring counselors and ministry leaders, this course provides the essential tools to understand the complexity of the human heart (“The Embodied Soul”). Participants will begin by analyzing the Imago Dei, exploring how core values and automatic thoughts shape behavior. The course moves into the practical dynamics of personality and emotional maturity, teaching students how these factors impact interpersonal relationships. Key instructional modules focus on the mechanics of redemptive conversations—specifically how to ask probing questions that reveal “idols of the heart.” Finally, participants will design a comprehensive personal wellness plan to ensure their own longevity and health in ministry.

An asynchronous course is a flexible learning format where you and your instructor do not need to be online at the same time. Instead of attending live lectures at a specific hour, you access pre-recorded videos, readings, and activities on your own schedule.

Why Choose an Asynchronous Journey?

  • Learn at Your Own Pace: You can pause a lesson to pray, re-watch a difficult section, or spend extra time in your journal without feeling rushed.
  • Total Flexibility: Whether it’s early morning or late at night, the course is available 24/7, making it ideal for those with busy family or work commitments.
  • Time for Deep Reflection: Because you aren’t in a live classroom, you have the space to sit with the “Three Dimensions”—God, self, and others—and truly process how they interconnect in your life.
  • Privacy and Safety: You can engage with sensitive topics like personal character transformation in a private, secure environment.

How This Course Works

  1. Access the Portal: Once you register, you will receive a login to the course platform where all 10 lessons are hosted.
  2. Watch and Listen: Each lesson begins with a video or audio session exploring core concepts like the “integrated creature” (spirit, body, and soul) or breaking negative behavioral cycles.
  3. Guided Journaling: As you progress, you will use your 3-Dimensional Journaling Guide to respond to specific prompts that help you apply biblical truths to your own context.
  4. Practical Application: You’ll be prompted to take specific actions, such as practicing a “wellness plan” or meditating on Scripture like Psalm 1 or Philippians 4:8.

Is This Journey for You?

To help you decide if this format is the right fit, consider these questions:

  • Schedule: Do you prefer a set meeting time, or do you need the freedom to learn in the gaps of your busy day?
  • Study Habits: Are you self-motivated to set aside a few hours a week to work through the lessons at your own speed?
  • Reflection: Do you find that you learn better when you have time to write down your thoughts and pray through prompts privately?
  • Goals: Are you looking for a foundational understanding of biblical counseling that you can start applying to your life and ministry immediately?
